The MinnDak
Millers closed out the first month of the season by going
2-2 and finishing fourth at the Eau Classic Classic at
Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin this past weekend. The
Millers season record now stands at 12-2.
The Millers
played the weekend without Chad Boom, Gregg Cascaes, Lucas
Goring, Travis Price, John Tschida and Steve Baumgartner.
The absences were felt most in the batting order for both of
MinnDak’s losses.
The Millers
would like to send a big congratulations to Gregg, Lucas and
Travis and the rest of Team USA for their silver medal
finish at the ISF World Cup held in Prague, The Czech
Republic over the past 10 days.

MinnDak and
Thomson squared off for the third time this season and the
Millers came away with the win for the third time.
BJ Boom led
off the bottom of the first with a double that was followed
by a Zach Goring single that moved Boom to third.
Tony Kunka
reached on a fielder’s choice and Roman Foore hit a sac fly
that scored Boom and moved Zach Goring to third.
Goring would
score on Ward Gosse’s ground out.
MinnDak would
add three more runs in the fourth. Gosse led off the inning
with a single, Jason Wandler walked and Tim Tweiten singled
to plate Gosse. A wild pitch advanced both Wandler and
Tweiten a base.
Wandler
scored on Bob Fleming’s single with Tweiten scoring on a
Boom sacrifice fly to center.
The fifth
inning saw Foore double with one out. Ward Gosse singled to
score Foore.
Two batters
later, Tweiten ended the game with a two-run homer.

The Millers
squared off against Townline for the third time in 2007 and
came away with their first loss on the season.
While
Townline’s bats were alive and well, MinnDak’s bats were
unable to generate a hit as they left 8 runners on base over
the first three innings before being sent down in order the
last two frames.

Facing
elimination, the Millers found themselves facing Thomson
once again.
The MinnDak
bats came alive once again. BJ Boom led off the MinnDak
first with a single.
Zach Goring
bunted Boom to second and he advanced to third on a wild
pitch.
Tony Kunka
reached on an error that scored Boom. Roman Foore hit a
homer that scored Kunka to put MinnDak up 3-0.
The next
inning, MinnDak added four more runs to go up 7-0.
With one out,
Bob Fleming singled. Two batters later, with two out, Zach
Goring singled to move Fleming to second. Fleming and
Goring moved up on a passed ball. They would each move up
another base on a wild pitch, with Fleming scoring.
Kunka worked
a walk before Foore hit a three-run homer.
The Millers
added a pair of runs in the fourth.
Goring led
off with a walk and was forced out on Nick Winecke’s
fielder’s choice. Winecke moved to second on a passed ball.
Roman Foore
walked. Ward Gosse’s ground out moved Winecke and Foore up
a base and both would score on Jason Wandler’s single to
round out the MinnDak scoring.

The Millers
bats went quite once again as they were eliminated from the
tournament Sunday morning.
Down 7-0
entering the bottom of the seventh, MinnDak attempted a
late-game rally with Ward Gosse and Jason Wandler hitting
back-to-back homers to lead of the bottom of the seventh,
but the Millers would get no closer.
